Finding a Public Service Internship

Start by reviewing our Finding a Public Service Internship Introduction.

There are a number of ways to find an internship. Students are encouraged to search the web to get started. You can also browse the department's listings of internship opportunities. These pages include postings by some employers who have requested that interested students apply, and they also include links to government internships as well as other political organizations. The internship director will have access to the most recent employer inquiries.

For information about these listings email Professor Erik Rankin. You can begin this process before your first meeting with Professor Rankin by downloading the detailed instructions above.

In addition, Illinois State's Career Center offers a number of job and internship fairs throughout the year. You are encouraged to attend these fairs as many local and national organizations will be available to discuss potential opportunities. The Career Center also maintains an internship database which is available only to Illinois State students as well as mock interviews and one-on-one career advisement at no charge. You may also visit this third-party website to search entry-level jobs.
